A Website for an Organization Assisting Ex-Orthodox Parents in Child Custody Cases

"Steps (Tzeadim)" is a website and branding project completed during my time as a designer at David and Yosef studio for Hillel.

The project supports parents who have left ultra-Orthodox communities in Israel and need legal help during separation, divorce, and child custody proceedings.

The site had to explain a sensitive service quickly: who the program is for, what kind of help is available, and how to reach out discreetly.

Main page

The website and branding were designed to help Hillel reach parents at a difficult, high-stakes moment.

The design needed to feel clear, credible, and human, so visitors could understand the available support without feeling overwhelmed by legal or institutional language.

Core Ideas

Steps needed to make a complex legal service feel approachable from the first screen.

The visual system balances practical guidance with warmth, helping parents quickly understand what the program offers and how to take the next step.

Clarity when custody feels uncertain
A calm tone for sensitive family moments
A simple first step when asking for help
A discreet place to ask for help

What the Website Communicates

The live Steps website presents the program as a practical support system for parents navigating divorce after leaving the ultra-Orthodox community.

Its content needed to move between emotional urgency and concrete action: legal consultation, appeal support, personal guidance, and accessible resources for people beginning a complicated process.

For the design, that meant building trust before decoration. The interface had to make contact feel safe, keep the service areas easy to scan, and avoid adding friction around already stressful decisions.

A first conversation without cost
Support when the system feels overwhelming
Someone beside you through the process
Plain answers when everything feels confusing

"Steps (Tzeadim)" is a program that helps ex-ultra-Orthodox parents fight for custody of their children in legal proceedings that often favor the Orthodox side.

As the website designer for this program, my aim was to create a platform that would serve as a valuable resource for parents seeking custody.

The program offers guidance and support through the legal process, with a focus on better outcomes for children caught in the middle of these custody battles.

Beyond individual support, the organization also works to raise awareness and improve policy around high-conflict divorce cases involving parents who left the ultra-Orthodox community.
